Earlier this year, when announcement of Axon Phone was made, a sensation was sparked among consumers who tried to figure out how this newcomer would appear. However, with passage of time, it became clear that ZTE was behind the device. Today, a media event was held by the Chinese OEM and some insight was offered into this new brand strategy. Axon line is known for producing premium devices that aim at consummate connoisseur.
CEO of ZTE Mobile devices, Adam Zeng explained that ‘devices of ZTE Axon Product lines are designed keeping consumers in mind. Now, their flagship strategy is in full swing and they have all ingredients that are necessary for becoming a leading brand of consumer electronics.
While the merits of Apple’s 3D Touch are being actively discussed by the world, Axon Mini which was the first phone that was unveiled in July 2015 was the first smartphone that offered this technology. It even went ahead of Huawei’s Mate S. The device is known to feature a FHD 5.2inch AMOLED 2.5D curved screen, 3GB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Octa-Core SoC with Adreno 405 GPU, 13megapixel rear camera, 8megapixel front camera as well as 2800mAh battery. The memory can be expanded up to 128GB. Color options include Rose Gold, Chromium Silver and Ion Gold. The voice search functionality of this device is the main highlight and it can be activated within 1.2 seconds. There is also voice translation support for Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English. Other technologies that are supported are eye-scanning, fingerprint authentication and voice recognition. The retail price of the Ion Gold and Chromium Silver model would be $379 and that of Rose Gold would be $399.
Axon Watch was unveiled in July 2015 and it would go on sale in China from the 27th of October. The features of this wearable include 1.4inch Gorilla Glass screen with Sapphire coating, 4GB storage, 512MB RAM, Bluetooth 4.1 and a 3000mAh battery. Since the product was developed in conjunction with Tencent, it is supportive of Tencent OS. It comes integrated with WeChat and QQ. No specification on the price was given.
Although some details about Axon Max are lacking, sources have specified that it would be having a 6 inch QHD display, 4 GB of RAM and Snapdragon 810 SoC. Based on the specifications of Axon Mini and Axon Phone, it is assumed that the Max would also include Hi-Fi audio alone with whistles and bells.
