As per a recent report, in which the support documents of LG were cited, it was indicated that the flagship phones LG G3 and LG G4 might be the first handsets apart from Android One and Google Nexus devices that would received Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update. On Thursday, it was finally announced by LG that LG G4 would start receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
As per this South Korean handset maker, users of G4 in Poland would be the first ones to receive this update starting next week. Further, a confirmation was given by LG that this Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates would also roll-out to markets including America, Asia and Europe. However, the company clarified that details of receiving models and updates would be revealed in individual markets.
Some new features of this update include new Chrome feature for enhancing web experience for Android users, Google Now on Tap feature as well as revamped app permissions. Apart from that there are features like Android Pay Mobile Payment system, Fingerprint APIs for developers as well as Silent feature for vibrate and sound mode just like ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode for blocking notifications and alarms. There is a feature of Doze, the battery saver feature which would make Android devices manage power smartly. Other additions include USB Type-C ports, auto backup and restore, new app drawer, adoptable storage devices and RAM manager.
The Head of Marketing Communications and Vice President of LG Mobile, Chris Yie stated that “By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors. While speed alone isn’t an indicator of great service, it does go a long way toward giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first.”
