As promised, the new Redmi Note Prime smartphone has been unveiled by Xiaomi in India. Having a price of Rs.8,499, the availability of Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime would be seen exclusively through Mi.com and Amazon India from Tuesday from 10Am.
In a press note, a confirmation was given by the Chinese company about Redmi Note Prime being the 2nd Made in India smartphone after the launch of Redmi 2 Prime, which was seen this year in the month of August. Just like the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, the manufacture of this device would be seen in Andhra Pradesh in Sri City in partnership with Foxconn. At this price, it would compete against Lenovo K3 Note.
The platform on which the Redmi Note Prime runs is Android 4.4 Kitkat based MIUI 7. It is supportive of dual SIM which features a 5.5 inch IPS display and has resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. A 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor along with 2 GB RAM powers the phone.
The inbuilt storage capacity of the smartphone is 16 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of microSD card. It sports a 13 megapixel autofocus rear camera along with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera. A 3100mAh battery backs the handset. Options of connectivity include GPS, A-GPS, USB-OTG, Micro-USB 2.0, FM Radio, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, EDGE and GPRS. Manu Jain, the Indian head of Xiaomi stated that with the launch of this phone, the Mi Fans have been provided an opportunity for upgrading to a smartphone with dual-SIM capabilities and expanded memory.
